I am back!

The RETURN After a couple of months of no activity because of personal stuff, I am back again. I have been very busy these past months, then I had no energy to watch movies and even less to make a single small review... well you all know that it takes up neurons.  I will be watching more movies and posting daily content on Letterboxd and I will also be sharing some thoughts here. P.S. I'm very excited about Saw X , it will be released in a month, I can't wait for it.

WW2 and a gold prospector

 Sisu (2023)

"They call him koschei, The Inmortal."

Here we have a war movie, the blog was being very peaceful, so let's fill it with a bit of gunpowder from Sisu.

It's about a lonely fearless ex-military man, and gold prospector from Finland, who wants to protect his gold from the hands of the Germans. It's a World War 2 movie set and shot in Lapland.

This war movie develops a good story which becomes engaging, all thanks to its good action scenes, there are lot of original moments, which are sort of shocking, in a good way (it's hard tu surprise an audience today, we are used to everything, but this movie achieved that, at least it worked for me). The main character is interesting and it generates the need of knowing more about him throughout the movie. The pacing is good, it isn't very long and it is easy to watch.

I have to nuance one aspect of this piece, and it's related to the scene in which a group of girls take weapons and fight with them. I was talking the other day in the review that I made for Nimona, about the eagerness of content creators to please their audience treating all the viral themes of the moment, just to get the easy applause, and that's something that I really hate.
Sisu also touched the field of feminism, but in a discreet way, normalising empowered women fighting with weapons, not throwing stupid one liners, which only aim (never better said, war movie) to get the support of a few.

I don't have much to say or to complain about this one, I highly encourage you to give a try to Sisu, it won't dissapoint you, I guess.
