I am back!

The RETURN After a couple of months of no activity because of personal stuff, I am back again. I have been very busy these past months, then I had no energy to watch movies and even less to make a single small review... well you all know that it takes up neurons.  I will be watching more movies and posting daily content on Letterboxd and I will also be sharing some thoughts here. P.S. I'm very excited about Saw X , it will be released in a month, I can't wait for it.

Netflix supporting mental health and LGBTIQ colective

 Nimona (2023)

Hello everyone, today I bring here the last Netflix animated production, where it was released the 30th of June, and it's a movie which is receiving a big love from the audience so far.

Nimona is about a knight who meets a little girl who is able to shape his own form (some kind of Mystique from X-Men), both get involved into a big trouble.

It's a computer animated lighthearted piece, characters manage to be interesting, the sory is entertaining and very easy to watch. It enjoys of a good pacing and it's able to connect with the audience.

Nimona treats themes that I'm seeing very often this year, mental health is very present in the last releases, examples like Renfield (I watched this one yesterday, let's see if I upload the review in the next few days). In one hand we know that these are trendy topics, and we all know that the first thing they want is to please the audience, but in the other hand, I think that this kind of movies are very necessary nowadays. Many people can be helped, in some way, with this type of content, or even serving as a way out.
You can guess the themes (anyway I already nounced them on the title, one of the topics it talks about is the mental health, by depicting characters who do not consider themselves to be enough and even alienated from society because of people's intrinsic evilness.
Another theme, this piece emphasises and attempts to normalise, is the presence of LGTBQ colective among the "heroes" or among the big ones, the strong knights in this case, who watch over the security of the city.

As a curiosity, this movie was rejected from Disney due to the movie's LGBTQ themes, then Netflix took advantage of it, and we see it's having a great success. I'm sure that after this, Disney is going to upload new LGTBQ content more often, anyway it will be only for the easy applause.

To put and end to this entry, I would recommend you to watch Nimona, Netflix usually achieves better results with its animated productions, and here we have an example of that.
