I am back!

The RETURN After a couple of months of no activity because of personal stuff, I am back again. I have been very busy these past months, then I had no energy to watch movies and even less to make a single small review... well you all know that it takes up neurons.  I will be watching more movies and posting daily content on Letterboxd and I will also be sharing some thoughts here. P.S. I'm very excited about Saw X , it will be released in a month, I can't wait for it.

Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots comes again!

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)

Hello everyone, today I was up for a more modern movie, so here we are with this charismatic cat, he comes again, to teach us a big lesson, this time.

As everyone knows, Antonio Banderas voices Puss in Boots and Salma Hayek is the one in charge to give voice to the adorable and brave Kitty Softpaws, so having our lineup ready, let's dig a bit into the movie.

The movie is about the last life of our favourite cat, after spending his other eight lives, he has to be careful with the last one remaining. He discovers that the myth of the star which gives a wish is real, then he goes after it to restore his lost lives... The rest is history...

It has an entertaining story, approached in a lighthearted way, there are interesting characters, a fresh, beautiful and also colorful animation, a good plot, the pacing is alright and everything manages to be engaging. The script is wonderful since it combines English lines with Spanish ones. So having charming characters together with a beautiful palette of colors, nothing can go wrong.

Apart from everything I highlighted before, the strongest aspect which carries this movie out is the teaching that it tries to communicate to the viewer. Through a good cast of characters, each one with a different way of being, this movie is capable to connect with us and it success at telling the moral, every character transmits what the director, producers and all the crew wanted to achieve. So I think that this is what makes this movie noteworthy.

It's fun that, yesterday I was talking about the German piece M, which was one of the first movies to use sound and also to use the figure of the leitmotif, so... SURPRISE! Puss in Boots: The Last Wish also uses this resource, for the ones who don't know what it is, a leitmotif is a short musical phrase associated with a character, this time whistled by the character of the Wolf.

All in all, there is not much to say which haven't been said before, cute animals which/who talk and wield their swords... What else you need to spend a good time? Give this movie a check, I'm sure that you will not regret it.
