I am back!

The RETURN After a couple of months of no activity because of personal stuff, I am back again. I have been very busy these past months, then I had no energy to watch movies and even less to make a single small review... well you all know that it takes up neurons.  I will be watching more movies and posting daily content on Letterboxd and I will also be sharing some thoughts here. P.S. I'm very excited about Saw X , it will be released in a month, I can't wait for it.

The idyllic cop

 Robocop (1987)

"Madam, you have suffered an emotional shock. I will notify a rape crisis center."

Hello guys, here we have this total classic directed by Paul Verhoeven, the director of another popular titles like: Total Recall (1990), Basic Instinct (1992), Showgirls (1995), etc.

This sci-fi action movie is about a cop who is brutally killed by a criminal gang, after his death, he is revived by a company which works with the policea, as a cyborg named RoboCop. Everything takes place in a dystopian future.

Robocop treats a futuristic story, which one, back in the 1980s, was something amazing, being the world less advanced than today, 36 years before, this piece had to be more than good, today it holds up very well, but it's less shocking. Characters are interesting, the plot is a good one and it has a good pacing, all together, make thie piece an engaging one.

It treats themes like corruption and it depicts the perfect figure of a protective and strong man that 1980s movies liked to show. There is a constant struggle between humanity and robotics here, trying to integrate progress at any cost.

As a curiosity of Robocop, I read once that when the script first came into Paul Verhoeven's hands (the director), after reading a couple of pages he totally dismissed it. He thought it was just another "dumb action movie". Hopefully, his wife read the script and convinced her husband that he had to direct this movie.

All in all, this is a highly recommended movie if you haven't watched it yet, anyway, I find really hard that you had never watched this classic, somewhere or somehow before.
