Renfield (2023)
"I am the dark poetry in the hearts of all mankind."
Hello guys, I hope you are having a good day, here I am to share the last movie of Nicolas Cage, an American comedy inspired on Bram Stocker's novel, Dracula.
It's about Renfield, the servant of Count Dracula, who needs a change of environment, thinks that he had found the way out to leave his master.
Renfield is a lighthearted piece, the story is different from what we are used to, but it doesn't become really interesting, characters are not very likable either. It has a good pacing and it is very easy to watch, but it doesn't connect with the viewer.
It mainly treats the theme of mental health, it's being a recurrent topic lately. I think that these movies do a lot of good for many kinds of people, you can like it more or less, but I'm sure that in some particular cases, can become life savers.
Renfield, deals with the issue of personal codependence, seeing examples of people broken inside because of their social relationships.
All in all, despite not being an amazing movie, it's an average one, if you like its premise give it a try, if not, you can just skip it.
